My role is to be with you as you explore the relationships and events that have shaped who you are today. I haven't been over the paths you've worn down through repeated travel, so I will likely notice things that you've long stopped looking at.
In my experience, therapy works best when each of us brings a sense of curiosity about what you have to say (and about what goes unsaid), a willingness to ask meaningful questions, and a commitment to being honest, open, and present.
While the foundation of my clinical work is psychodynamic, meaning a deep exploration of how the events of the past influence the present, I incorporate aspects of Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Short-Term Solutions-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness when appropriate.
Topics frequently discussed in my office include:
anxiety
artistic and creative blocks
coming out
compulsive behaviors
depression, shame, guilt
gender identity
body issues: eating, exercise, appearance, self-harm, self-care
grief and mourning
obsessive thinking
relationships: family, friendships, colleagues, dating, marriage, break-ups
sexuality of all kinds
transitions: graduation, career, relationship, parenthood, relocation, loss
trauma and its effects
when will my "real" life start?
